Selection of insulating glass raw materials

[China Glass Net] Since the beginning of the hollow glass in China in the 1960s, its production has experienced double glass, simple double glass, manual single-channel sealing, double-channel sealing and the process of composite rubber-type insulating glass which has appeared in recent years. After nearly four decades of development, the market has gradually matured. With China's emphasis on building energy efficiency, the quality of insulating glass has been put on the agenda.

The main factors affecting the quality of insulating glass are: (1) the selection of raw materials; and (2) the manufacturing process. Here mainly talk about the selection of insulating glass raw materials. The quality of the raw materials will directly affect the quality and service life of the insulating glass.

At present, there are three main types of insulating glass in China: (1) slot aluminum single-channel sealing; (2) slot aluminum double-channel sealing; (3) composite sealing strip-type insulating glass. The single-channel sealing of the slot aluminum is gradually eliminated due to its poor sealing performance and easy entry into the moisture, resulting in condensation and frosting of the glass and short service life. The raw materials of the latter two kinds of insulating glass are mainly: glass, aluminum strip, gusset, butyl rubber, two-component polysulfide or silicone silicone, desiccant, composite sealant strip. Let's briefly talk about the selection of these raw materials.

First, the choice of glass:

1. The original sheet glass for manufacturing the insulating glass may be a colorless float glass, a coated glass, a tempered glass, a laminated glass or the like. The use of ordinary flat glass should be avoided, and the transparency and strength of ordinary flat glass can not meet the requirements. The above-mentioned original glass film must meet the requirements of the corresponding standards and can only be used after passing the inspection.

2. Different batches of glass from different manufacturers should check the color difference before cutting. The glass with large color difference should be used in different projects or different building facades.

3, glass cutting size, should be strictly implemented according to the requirements of the drawings, at the same time the operator should pay attention to the glass surface, there must be no obvious defects such as scratches, bubbles.

Second, the selection of aluminum strips, gussets

1. The thickness of the aluminum strip should be between 0.3-0.35mm, the thickness should be uniform and uniform, and the venting holes should be evenly distributed. Aluminum strips must be bent by anodizing or decontamination treatment. Be sure to use high quality and high grade products. Improve the utilization of aluminum strips.

2, the horn size should be selected, the surface should be cleaned.

Third, desiccant

At present, there are three types of desiccant for insulating glass: 1. The absorption capacity of volatile matter is good; 2. The adsorption amount of inert gas is low; 3. Ordinary molecular sieve. The user should consult the manufacturer according to his own glue, select the appropriate molecular sieve, and the molecular sieve should have the appropriate particle size (1-1.5mm) and hardness. In addition, the environment in which the molecular sieve is used should be dried, the packing molecules should be used within 1.5 hours, and the exposed molecular sieve should be used to ensure the quality of the insulating glass.

Fourth, the choice of sealant

1, butyl rubber:

Butyl rubber is the first seal of aluminum strip insulating glass. It is a hot melt adhesive with a low water vapor transmission rate (lower in hollow glass plastic). It has high viscosity and is aluminum strip side and A more effective barrier between the glass and the water vapor barrier, but it needs to be heated, pressurized, and extrusion coated on both sides of the aluminum strip by a special machine.

At present, there are many manufacturers of domestic butyl rubber, but the heating temperature and pressure of each rubber produced by the company are not the same. Some manufacturers can not even use the butyl rubber, which is often caused by impurities. This requires the user to select a good quality product and understand its usage requirements.

2, polysulfide rubber:

Polysulfide rubber is one of the most widely used hollow glass sealants. The polysulfide rubber has good oil resistance, solvent resistance and sealing properties. Polysulfide rubber should be polymerized with metal oxide as curing agent. The ratio of the two components is about 1:10. The mixing ratio and uniformity have little effect on the effect. Therefore, the glue can be applied by hand or by hand.

Selection requirements for polysulfide rubber: color difference between two components; effective period of more than half a year; strong UV resistance; good fluidity and curing flexibility.

3, silicon silicone rubber

Silicone sealant has structural, aging and UV resistance, but its weakness is high water vapor transmission. Therefore, silicone is suitable for places with strong light and poor environment, such as glass curtain wall, and must be sealed with butyl rubber. Silicone rubber, in the past, China has long relied on imports. Now the State Economic and Trade Commission has set up a special group of silicon silicone rubber to carry out safety certification for structural adhesives. At present, Zhengzhou Zhongyuan and Guangzhou Baiyun have passed the certification.

Five, composite sealing strip

This is a composite sealing material developed by American chemists in the 1980s. The strip is a hollow glass raw material that supports a skeleton (wavy aluminum strip), a seal (butyl rubber), and a drying (drying agent). Its great advantages are simple operation process, less waste of raw materials, less personnel, low management cost and good operating environment. The disadvantage is that the strip absorbs moisture slowly and must have special equipment. At present, the price of the rubber strip is limited by the output. The selection of the composite sealing strip should consider the surface smoothness, the quality of the aluminum strip, the content of the glue, and the moderate viscosity.
