National Standard "Identification of Textile Fiber Content"

National Standard "Identification of Textile Fiber Content"

The National Standard for Labeling Textile Fiber Content (GB/T 29862-2013) issued jointly by the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the National Standardization Administration will be formally implemented on May 1 this year. This new edition of the national standard was revised and upgraded on the basis of the original industry standard, combined with the actual product and inspection work. According to Article 6 of the “Standardization Law of the People's Republic of China”, after the implementation of national standards, the textile industry standard FZ/T 01053-2007 “Identification of Textile Fiber Content” shall be repealed.

The identification of textile fiber content is a specification for consumers to recognize and is an important standard in the field of textiles. According to the previous test results, the unqualified items of the textile labeling project and the fiber content accounted for about 70% of all unqualified textiles. The vast majority of them were unqualified because of non-standard fiber content identification. After the textile logo has been raised from the industry standard to the national standard, it will specify the requirements for labeling, labeling principles, indication methods, tolerances, and conformity determination of textile fibers.

The major change in the old and new standards is 7.4. The old standard is “When the fiber content on the label is 15% (filler 30%), the allowable fiber content deviation is 30% of the nominal value”, and the new The national standard is “When the fiber content of a label is 10%, the fiber content tolerance is 3%; when the fiber content is 3%, the measured content must not be 0. When the fiber content of a certain filler on the label At 20%, the fiber content tolerance is 5%; when the filler fiber content is 5%, the measured content must not be 0”. The new standard categorizes the allowable deviation of the range of fiber content marks greater than 10% and less than or equal to 15% (filler fiber content greater than 20% and less than or equal to 30%) to ± 5%.

The inspection and quarantine authorities should prompt relevant companies to make preparations in advance and conscientiously study and understand the key points of the new national standards. After the implementation of the national standard, all textiles sold in China must have the fiber content labelled to meet the requirements of the standard; in foreign trade companies exporting European and American orders, the labeling of fabric fiber content is more important. Once detected and identified, it will face a return. Even the risk of compensation.
