US Voluntary Recall of Chinese Baby Legs Socks

On December 23, 2010, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and BabyUnited LLC issued a voluntary recall of Chinese-made baby leg warmers and socks. The affected products include BabyLegs infant leg sleeves, knee socks, and regular socks, which feature heart-shaped decals in powder, white, and violet colors. These items were sold nationwide from August to November 2010, with each pair priced at $11. Approximately 4,500 pairs of the products were recalled. The primary concern is that the heart-shaped decals can easily detach from the fabric. If ingested by infants, these small parts could pose a serious choking hazard. According to reports, one child accidentally put a decal in her mouth, causing a choking incident, though no medical intervention was required. In response, the CPSC urged parents and caregivers to immediately stop using the recalled products and to remove any heart-shaped decals from the legwear or socks. Consumers are advised to contact BabyUnited LLC for a full refund or a store credit. This recall serves as a reminder of the importance of checking product safety and being vigilant about potential hazards in children's clothing.
