Shafley: Green Elf in the Gem

Natural and colorful colors are an important feature of colored gemstones. At the beginning of this year, a green gem, Shafley, was popular in the Tianjin collection. Many collectors called to ask about the knowledge of Shafeilai. Today, the newspaper invited Jiang Feng, director of the Tianjin Gold Association, to tell you about the "green elf" Shafley in the gems.

Features: high quality and less fake

"At first glance, many people will think of Shafeilai as emerald. In fact, Shafeilai is a member of the garnet family." Jiang Feng introduced that Shafolai is a green transparent gem-grade vanadium-containing, chromium-containing Calcium aluminum garnet, color from yellow-green, blue-green to bright green, mainly produced in Sharif National Park, Kenya, eastern Africa. At present, the price of Shafolai on the market is very large according to the quality. The larger the particle, the higher the price. For example, Shavile, about 2 carats, has a poor quality of more than 1,000 yuan per carat and a good quality of 5 or 6 thousand yuan.

“Shafolai can have a place in the jewelry market, and it is inseparable from its acclaimed 'three highs'.” Jiang Feng said that Shafolai’s high brightness, high purity and high saturation of rich colors make Many colored gemstones are eclipsed. The high brightness of Schaffer is due to its extremely high refractive index, which can generate strong fire from time to time; it contains very few impurities, high purity can even leave emerald far behind; high saturated and rich color Let it have more vivid colors.

"In general cognition, garnet is a relatively low-grade colored gemstone, but due to the limited amount of Shafolai, the future value-added potential cannot be underestimated." Jiang Feng said that although there are many places where the Shafolai deposit is discovered, it may be used. The jewels of the Shaflay mining area are pitiful. In addition, since Shafeledo is found in rock cracks, mining is also very difficult. Jiang Feng said that Shafolai was discovered only for a few decades. For now, most of the Shafolais seen in the gemstone trade are natural goods that can be trusted, so collectors can buy with confidence.

Selection: 3 carats is enough for collection

So, what should you pay attention to when choosing Shafele? Jiang Feng introduced that Shafolai's evaluation and purchase are mainly based on color, transparency, particle size and cutting.

Color: Color is the most important factor in determining the price. Shaver's green is easy to yellow, and blue is rare. When choosing Shafray, the color should not be too light or too dark, choose bright green.

Head: Shafley with large particles is very rare. “The proportion of Shavray’s production of more than 3 carats is even less than that of diamonds.” Jiang Feng said that the granules of sapphire’s gemstones are generally small. 85% of the market’s Shafele is below 1 carat, and only 2 carats. There are about 2.5%, and more than 5 carats are rare. The rarity of the object has always been the unchanging law of the jewellery world. The safari of more than 3 carats has a very high collection value.

Clarity: As the saying goes, "the ten treasures are broken", everyone has heard that the clarity requirements for colored gemstones are naturally not as harsh as diamonds. Generally, it is acceptable to use impurities and cracks that are invisible to the naked eye, and impurities are not in the center of the gemstone. But overall, Shafley has very little impurities.

Cut: Shafray is so bright and dazzling, mainly because of its high refractive index, and the interior is very pure, so generally take a round brilliant cut, usually with 57 or 58 facets, which is why it looks from the appearance It is much brighter than emerald.
